Who is more overrated, Elon Musk or Steve Jobs?

Elon Musk:

“When I was in college, I wanted to be involved in things that would change the world.”
 – Elon Musk

  • He wants to make this big world into a better place with Tesla, Solar City and he wants to make the human race an interplanetary species with Space X.

  • His motive wants us to move to electric cars and get rid of the air-polluting fuels & He wants us to become an interplanetary specie if the Earth becomes uninhabitable or overpopulated.
  • He doesn’t want us to make profitable and sustainable businesses. If he wanted to do that, he would have already done that. Although for his dreams to come true, he needs money, a lot of money, and he can get that only by keeping his businesses in gains & he is pretty much doing it, for instance, by making rockets reusable.

Steve Jobs:

“There is nothing that makes my day more satisfying than an email from anyone in the universe that just bought an iPhone in the UK and says it’s the best product that he has taken to his home. That’s what makes me go.”
 – Steve Jobs

  • He concentrated on just one business, never wanted to make this world a better place and always looked to maximize the profits of his company.
  • Albeit he did change the way humans interact with computers and phones but that’s not something we need. It’s only a luxury.

Coming back to the question, I don’t think anyone of them is “overrated”, they just happened to be two businessmen with varying mindsets and equally varying appetites for risk.

  1. Refreshing to see someone thinking in sames lines as me! I do not understand the hype around steve job or apple. At the end of the day it is just a better product to interact with. It is a luxury, not necessity. Pollution, population are real problems and need real solutions. Steve jobs was a marketer, Elon musk is a visionary.
